North has more vacant properties when compared to the rest of Minneapolis. It is important to mitigate vacancies because they are often targeted by squatters and can represent failure to provide housing and neighborhood services. Vacant properties also tend to be poorly maintained and become dilapidated, diminishing surrounding home values over time.
OTHER AMENITIES
Unlike the even distribution of businesses on the East side of the river, many North Minneapolis businesses are concentrated near two of its highly traversed corridors. There are a number of food establishments in North Minneapolis, but there is limited access to high-end dining and other amenities like libraries, theatres, museums, clothing, vintage, music, and thrift stores.
