HOUSEHOLDS WITHOUT A VEHICLE
The high proportion of households in North Minneapolis without automobiles demonstrates the importance of access to public transportation and to safe pedestrian and bicycle routes for essential activities like work, education and shopping.
TRANSIT ROUTES + GRAND ROUNDS
The Minneapolis Grand Rounds are a series of parkways that connect pedestrians to the Mississippi River, lakes, and other Minneapolis park resources. Neither the Grand Rounds nor the train stops are integrated into the North neighborhoods. Buses have a strong presence in North and eventually the blue line train will expand to this neighborhood. Currently, with buses that run approximately every twenty minutes for example, it takes about twenty-two minutes to get to downtown Minneapolis from North’s Farview Recreation Center.
